Prior to their time at HoneyRock, students will complete multiple reading and writing assignments. Throughout the course students will keep a journal and will participate in many group experiences. Once on campus, students will be expected to continue journaling, write a final paper, and participate in two group meetings.

Program Fees:
Wilderness Track: $995
Camp Track: $695
Urban Track: $795 (FULL for 2010)
The fee covers room, board, activities at HoneyRock, course credit, and transportation (van pick-up at O’Hare International and Midway airports and coach bus transportation to and from HoneyRock). Participants will be responsible for purchasing two course texts. The course texts can be purchased online from the Wheaton College Bookstore. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot, so send a $100 check payable to “HoneyRock” in with your registration. The remaining program fee balance will be charged to each student’s fall semester bill.

Tuition:
Students will not be charged additional tuition for this course. The cost for these two hours of credit is covered by the fall semester tuition payment, so participants receive a $2000 program for the cost of the program fee listed. Wheaton Passage is a great way to maximize your investment.

Course Texts:
Students must purchase two text books for the course. Embracing the Love of God by James Smith and the "Wheaton Passage Workbook."  These texts are available begining at the end of April from the Wheaton College Bookstore and can be purchased online and shipped directly to you.

Transfers:
We know you’ve already been a freshman, so we have made some modifications within Wheaton Passage that are geared toward you and your fellow transfers. You will be in a small group with other transfers and your activities and discussions will be relevant to you and your experiences. You will make connections and share experiences with other transfers, while getting to know the other incoming students as well.

International Students:
Wheaton Passage has been designed to work in conjunction with TCK/MK Orientation so you don’t have to choose one or the other. You can come be a part of Wheaton Passage and still be down on the Wheaton campus in time for your TCK/MK orientation activities.

Capacity:
Urban Track is already full for 2010.  Wheaton Passage enrollment is limited.  Sign up today!

Wheaton College Student ID:
This year, incoming students will be able to email a picture to Wheaton College Public Safety before going on Passage so that their student ID cards can be made before they arrive on campus.  If you take advantage of this opportunity, you will only have to wait for a few minutes to get your student ID once you get to campus.  If you wait until you are on campus to get your picture taken, you will likely have to wait in line for an hour.  Save yourself the time by clicking on the link below to submit a suitable ID photo.

CLASS GOALS:

Foundations of a Worldview
The Wheaton Passage will help students identify the core questions that comprise a Christian worldview. Furthermore, the program will introduce students to the process of answering these questions as they move through the Wheaton Experience:
     a. Who is God?
     b. What is truth and how do we understand it?
     c. Who am I and who does God want me to be?
     d. What is our life in community, relationships and the church?
     e. How should we live in relation to money, the needs of the world, and God’s kingdom priorities?

Community
The Christian life is about community, the body of Christ. The goal is for students to learn to develop a positive living-learning community characterized by a balance of accountability and affirmation, challenge and support. This will happen through participation in a small group experience including a wilderness trip (Wilderness Track participants only) ropes course, group development initiatives, service projects, and just plain fun. This small group will provide the context for much of the learning related to the foundations of the spiritual life and building a Christian worldview. Crucial to small group experience is building a relationship with a capable guide. A HoneyRock staff member and Wheaton faculty member will team up to lead this experience.

Spiritual Formation
Students will begin to understand the nature of the inner life and the impact of their life events on the nurture and development of their soul. Key to this understanding is experiencing the fullness of God’s grace and love. Students will be exposed to a variety of formational practices that will enhance their devotional life, relationship with God and their involvement in the Church.

Service
The Christian life is characterized by a call to be others-oriented and committed to serving God’s purposes in the world. Students will be challenged experientially to meet the needs of others and to work hard at putting others before themselves. They will also learn the value of teamwork, responsibility and stewardship.

FALL SEMESTER:

In addition to the program at HoneyRock, students will gather for two sessions over the fall semester with their faculty member. This time is designed to help students transfer their learning into the context of life at Wheaton. Faculty members will help students process through transitional issues that often arise during the first semester.
